Adults with AD/HD have things they want to accomplish in life, as other adults do. They want to pursue challenging educational and professional goals, raise families, cultivate personal interests, etc. They are frequently bright, energetic, out-of-the-box thinkers who have much to contribute to the world around them, but are also likely to face certain challenges. A partnership with a life coach who understands AD/HD is a powerful aid to the individual who wants to overcome the challenges and leverage the strengths inherent in AD/HD.
An AD/HD coach can assist clients in:
Clarifying what is personally important and using this information to choose goals and activities which are rewarding;
Recognizing their true strengths and maximizing the use of these strengths;
Identifying their learning and working styles and designing life systems around these styles.
An AD/HD coach can also assist clients in overcoming or minimizing the following challenges that often accompany AD/HD:
Difficulty managing time and using it to advantage;
Difficulty organizing spaces and materials (both work and personal);
Difficulty setting priorities;
A tendency to procrastinate;
A tendency to begin many tasks and projects, but finish few;
Difficulty keeping track of tasks that need to be done;
A tendency to manage stress and anxiety in less than effective ways;
The focus of the relationship between client and AD/HD coach is success in whatever areas the client has identified as important to him/her.
